after a short pause, arthur returns with a new six-tracker ep on private persons. art crime is one of the more enigmatic figures in the moscow music scene. arthur recorded four solid releases on prominent record labels like w.t. records, crème organization, phonica records and pinkman. piercing, emotional and energetic, the releases became distinguishable dance floor heaters.
all recorded live in one or two takes most, using a roland mc 505, roland aira tr8, some fx pedals, recorded in cassette on a tascam 424. wich is the same set up i use to play live today. i cant remember now , but maybe 2 was recorded directly in the computer, live,in 1 channel.
originally a heavy metal drummer, bård aasen lødemel aka skatebård, got into techno and rave during the 90s. hailing from a small town called Ørsta on the norwegian west coast, lødemel moved to bergen where he quickly became part of the student town s growing club scene. after handing over a homemade demo to tellé records label boss mikal telle, lødemel got signed to tellé offshoot label tellektro in 2001. his first release under the name of skatebård, a 12- mini album called -skateboarding was a crime (in 1989)- was released in 2002, and skatebård s reputation as an excellent techno/electro producer started to spread beyond norway s borders. since then skatebård has gone on to release on labels such as sex tags mania, radius records, supersoul recordings, keys of life finland, luna flicks, totally as well as his own digitalo enterprises. -skateboarding was a crime (in 1989)- was pressed in a very limited edition and sold out quickly. since then it has been a desired object for record collectors and techno and electro aficionados around the globe. now the time has come to make the mini album available again, something this true masterpiece really deserves.
san francisco label left hand paths latest record is a contemporary techno opus, featuring four tracks, each with a distinct sound and feel, designed to set off a dancefloor and invigorate your stereo.
does anyone knows how difficult it is being cultureless and releasing worldwide your culture. we guess slow crime is familiar to that releasing his new ep «my culture» on 12 this autumn on his dearest spaghetti monster recordings. a raw synthetic house track pressed with looped vox as an original to start the extended play. slow crime culture presence has beed confirmed by a techno remix of a bpitch control hero kiki, groovy and melodic remix by a freshly baked resident from indian bangalore already highlighted by microcastle and movement - praveen achary and a hustling classy house edit by regular spaghetti monster resident and catalonist - ivan latyshev. get your grove on - choose your best!
dj haus ever-expanding deviant house music empire continues to impress with another installment of house crime, this time committed by szch. the 12inch kicks off with the fast and freaky girl i neva which borders on juke levels of nagging sample chops, before the script gets crumpled up and tossed at the bin with the wonderfully scruffy rave deconstruction of peugeot 106 at sunrise (pingers mix). unconditional (edit) brings something a little smoother to the mix, although that underlying weirdness that comes with house crime releases is still lurking in the wings. ukljucen ti je blutut finishes the ep off in a rowdy yet reflective style long may the strange tale of house crime continue.
dj octopus has been busy in the last few years, appearing often alongside steve murphy on labels like love notes, chiwax, hot haus and shall not fade. on this new double pack for house crime he goes it alone, bringing the kind of raw, off-kilter but ultimately fun vibe that the label seems to plump for. born in 86 is an absolute head driller of a track, looped up but utterly addictive, while diastemia offers a very different kind of disco-infused groove. this personality split runs throughout, ensuring there s never a dull moment diving into any of these sides of wax. check the toy is mine if you need proof that octopus knows how to throw it down.
house crime bounce back into the mix following the utterly essential steven bc release with this sixth jaunt through tough and rough beats from the backalley of the house music story, this time narrated by anthony fade. the drums are dirty distorted machine splatters, the synths wobble under the weight of their own fuzziness and the samples crunch like they fell prey to the ropiest of mpcs, and that s precisely why fade s jams are so damn hot. wild 9 (acid mix) is especially potent, using a simple but deadly 303 line and all kinds of hectic textures, and bout it manages to make melodic deep sound as mean and nasty as it ever should.
after his widely appreciated debut ep on s4aw kolja remixed cassius & pharrell williams on ed banger (yup!) and released some original stuff on suol and kakudo.
steven bc has been busy carving out his own niche in the underground over the past year, primarily on the shall not fade label. house crime were quick to pick up on the distinctive qualities in his lo-fi, pumped up sound and following on from an appearance on house crime vol. 1. bc is back with a whopping great double pack of killer jams from the wild side of the outboard brigade. -drive over- has a nagging lead line that will turn heads despite its stark simplicity, while -between the sheets- plays with boogie tropes and makes them sound delightfully off kilter. start to finish it s a collection of wondefully grubby but utterly fresh jams
gundagas dj boneyard has been overheating car stereos in the outback with his super limited cassette mixes for a hot minute! here he drops 4 ghetto tech houz bombs on house crime records.
berlin duo mat.joe pair really know how to cook up a storm and once again theyprove that in style with a pair of firing new tracks for their home label mother recordings. it comes after releases on labels like hot trax and gruuv recordings and again brims with fresh grooves that will be a fine addition to any set. strawz opens the account in loose limbed house fashion. silky drums bobble up anddown and retro stabs and chattering claps add bite to the beats. a heavily treatedvocal pings about and clever effects help build tension before the whole thing dropsinto a fat house kicker. on the flip, synthphony pops off like corn, with cyclical drums and moreretro stabs urging you to dance. a tinny vocal is stitched into the arrangement andkeeps you on edge as loopy bass cuts in and out. firing and well produced, this ismore dance floor dynamite for all.
hot on the heels of house crime vol.1 - were back, australians mall grab, steven b.c pair up with usa s jeremy castillo, vin sol & lawrence lee for 4 tracks of ghetto-tech-houz madness!
lucretio returns to crime city disco with a solo ep containing exactly what he does best slamming, no-nonsense house music! the ep includes a remix from marieu with his own trademarked wall-of-sound style. oh yes!
played by monsieur cedric (serie limitee), jason hodges, vorres (vrrs)
the house crime label debuts with this pearl of an ep by the new and exciting talents of steven bc and vrrs. the duo come through dangerously correct with their first release, and -functionz- is an instant hit, one of those tunes that has managed to find the perfect balance between drums and bass, melodies and vocals - a true old-school a-side for the heads. on the flip, -utukmylife (on the dancefloor)- is more speed garage than house, and the two producers pack another mean punch with this total banger, -house will remember-, on the other hand, is a real piece of chicago magic, a classic us house anthem with a rolling pile of drums, a huge swarm of bass and the right level of tape distortion. excellent
following eps for creme organization and w.t. records, art crime delivers a four tracker of meltingly good music on pinkman records. chords cascade, blending and reforming, in the warming wonder of still life , dead carnation is from a similar place. keys skipping down scales, dancing down them as percussion lends a touch of weight. distant is the mood changer. rain falls, smoke whirls and the night descends in this dark and intoxicating encounter. but those clouds part for the close. lush pads and soaring notes break through for calming currents of the less than aptly titled hectic . an artist rewriting stereotypes, an ep of true quality.
new dekmantel release that features danny wolfers a.k.a. legowelts ambient project occult orientated crime. its for the first time ever that this moniker of the prolific dutchman will have a physical release.
horsepower productions, and their ever present head honcho benny ill, revered in underground music circles as among the key early innovators of dubstep, return in 2016 with their much anticipated fourth album: crooks, crime & corruption.

ITS A CRIME (CARIBOU & HUNEE REMIXES) - 2016 REPRESS
12 Inch 15.01.16
ltd 2016 repress !! >its a crime< is taken from virgo fours recently released >resurrection< album, which is now available as a single with remixes from none other than caribou and hunee. caribou reworks >its a crime< into an eight minute epic dance floor bomb. his mix starts out with an intimate vocal groove, reminiscent of his >swim album, but before long it explodes into an monstrous acid driven work out in daphni style. bam! hunee goes for a more classic approach. a deep, swinging groove which takes us back to the peak days of chez >n< damier. pure gold! and then there is the original mix. a chicago classic that never was, resurrected from the vaults of virgo four. winning
it is a four track affair that continues to showcase the producer s knack for ravey, texturally rich house and techno sounds with a rather haunting edge
russias art crime seemingly came out of nowhere with his first record and it blew us all away at phonica. lead track release was pure nineties house nostalgia, a huge reverbed piano over skipping drums that became an instant shop classic. we just couldnt get it out of our heads!
dj support: adrian sherwood, gilles peterson, ross allen, dub vendor, steve barker, keith lawrence, robert elms, david rodigan, rootikal
ramrock records are excited to present, in conjunction with reggae supremo adrian sherwood & on-u sounds, the second release on the label - to be rich is a crime by jeb loy nicols and want more by leeds based performer/producer, l.s.k. both artists cover the same riddim with beautifully crafted lyrics, achingly sweet vocal deliveries and a sublime production from lord sherwood - a stellar combination of talent on one disc!!
